High Grace People: Grace in the Church (Romans 12:9-16) There shouldn’t be any institution on the face of the earth more characterized by grace than the Church of Jesus Christ – His people. Sadly, however, this is far too often not the case. Christians become afraid to open up about their weaknesses for fear of rejection, judgment, and rampant gossip. Gossip of other kinds – especially against leaders with whom people disagree – far too often runs rampant. Grudges go unaddressed for years or even decades. Member exit the church ‘out the back door’ when they feel offended in some way, often without letting anyone else know that they ever felt offended in the first place. Fellow Christians – both within our churches and without - are judged or criticized for ministry practices or preferences that don’t suit our tastes, regardless of how Biblically acceptable they are. What are some examples of ways that grace could radically change the face of our churches as we know them? How has lack of grace in our churches contributed to a generation of people who increasingly want nothing to do with ‘organized religion’, or see Christians as hypocrites?
